Hoboken New Jersey

Hoboken, New Jersey, nicknamed the Mile Square City, is a vibrant and unique city with lots of interesting things to do.  It appeals to young professionals with its relatively easy commute, renowned restaurants and bars, unique boutiques, beautiful parks, and spectacular views of Manhattan. According to the census data, Hoboken has 1.275 square miles of land and about 53,000 residents.  It's like one big neighborhood, feels very safe, and is very walkable.

Hoboken has great parks with lots of green space and activities for all ages and interests.

The waterfront Pier A Park has a large lawn and a gazebo where you can enjoy summer concerts in the park, fitness, yoga, and from June through August "Movies Under The Stars" on the large outdoor movie screen.  There are lots of activities and festivals held at Pier A Park to enjoy nearly year-round, or it's just a great place to bring a blanket, kick back on the lawn, and watch the world go by while gazing at the NYC skyline.  It's right outside the Hoboken terminal, so you can just walk out of the terminal and relax a bit on a park bench.

Sinatra Park, named after Frank Sinatra, one of Hoboken's most famous residents, has an outdoor amphitheater and lighted soccer field.  Sinatra Park is shaped in a Roman amphitheater style with an area that faces the former site of the World Trade Center. The Hoboken Division of Cultural Affairs regularly produces events at the park such as their Thursday concerts featuring a variety of New Jersey-based and regional musical acts and "Shakespeare Mondays" presented by the Hudson Shakespeare Company.

Hoboken's newest park long the Hudson, Pier C Park, has a fishing pier, promenade and water play area. Pier C Park is a great place to walk while enjoying beautiful views of the NYC skyline. The pier extends out over the water, and there is a nice grassy area with a playground and benches.

Maxwell Place Park has lots of grassy area, an enclosed playground space, dog run, a waterfront walkway, and a beach area with free kayaking on weekends. The Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse is an all-volunteer non-profit that provides free kayaking at Maxwell Place beach on the Hudson River in the summer from June through September.  Check their website for days/times they are open.

Hoboken has three more city parks offering green space, sports, playgrounds, and pet recreation. Columbus Park has basketball, tennis and a playground. There is a baseball field at Stevens Park, and Elysian Park has basketball and a dog run.

Washington Street, Hoboken's main commercial strip, is lined with bustling shops, restaurants and bars. The area boasts a vast array of highly-rated food spots, from 5-star dining, to delis, cafes, bakeries, and food trucks that are second to none.  The Elysian Cafe, said to be the oldest continually operated bar and restaurant in Hoboken, has a French bistro-style menu. Anthony David’s serves Italian classics and seasonal fare. Carlo’s Bake Shop, featured on the TLC show “Cake Boss,” is known for its pastries and cakes.  We've put links to some of Hoboken's most popular spots as you scroll down below.
