Lyndhurst NJ Re-opens Star Gazing Observatory

Lyndhurst Observatory Now Open

After  being  closed  for  repairs,  the  NJ  Sports  and  Exposition  Authority  reopened 
the William D. McDowell Observatory,  located  in  DeKorte Park,  to  the  public  for  free stargazing through its 20-inch
diameter  mirror,  research grade  telescope.  The  summer viewing sessions are Wednesday  evenings  June  29,  July  6, 
13,  20,  and  27;  and  August  3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 8:30 to10:30 p.m., weather permitting.
To access the observatory telescope,  a  visitor  must  be able to climb 25 steps in spiral formation.

Hayrides in Lyndhurst NJ!

Spooky Walks and Hayrides On October 29, 2015, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mead- owlands Environment Center, 2 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lynd- hurst, NJ 07071, celebrate this ghoulish time of year at DeKorte Park. There will be games, crafts, and activities throughout the evening, including hayrides and the Witch’s Den. Take your kid s on “T he Creepy Creatures of Halloween” Spooky Walk. Walks are recommended for children ages 5-12 and last approximately 30-40 minutes. When registering, please select your “Spooky Walk” time slot but don’t forget to come early and enjoy all the activities. Cost is $8 per person. Reg- istration is required.
