East Rutherford

The borough of East Rutherford is situated on a total area of 4.052 square miles in southern Bergen County. It is bordered on the north by Carlstadt and Wallington, on the south by Rutherford, by the Passaic River on the west and the Meadowlands on its eastern border.  

At the 2010 Census, there were 8,913 people, 3,792 households, and 2,226 families residing in East Rutherford.

East Rutherford is the home of the Meadowlands Sports Complex, which includes the Izod Center, and MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and New York Jets and the site of Super Bowl XLVIII.   View the video about all the activities at the Meadowlands below.

The East Rutherford School District serves students from grades K-8 in 2 school buildings, McKenzie School for PreK-5, and Alfred S. Faust School for students in grades 6-8.  High school students, grades 9-12, attend the Henry P. Becton Regional High School in East Rutherford, which serves high school students from both Carlstadt and East Rutherford. The school is part of the Carlstadt-East Rutherford Regional School District.  Students are also eligible to attend the secondary education programs offered by the Bergen County Technical Schools, which include the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, and the Bergen Tech campus in Teterboro or Paramus.
